Book Folding for Paula.....

Morning all, Friday here again, and the last week of October. Only 8 weeks until Christmas Day......hope you've made a start on your Christmas cards!!!!!!

I decided to make another book folding project as a Christmas present. This one is for "Paula", who is my eldest son's girlfriend.

She doesn't like anyone to spend money on her, almost feels embarrassed to accept gifts. So I thought by making her something, she will feel less awkward. Believe it or not, this brand new book only cost me £1.00 in "poundland" shop. So apart from my time and a little bit of paper involved in the decorating....a very cheap present. !!

A view from above. You can see that i have used my favourite die "delicate asters" for the flowers. I have added little yellow dazzlers in the centre of each flowers, as well as across the panel at the bottom (which holds the book together). This is a Sue Wilson die - cant remember which one though.
I had some cream embossed card, that was given to me by a friend, so using gold paste, i spread the paste across the embossed card so that the de-bossed parts were covered and once dry, i have used for the inside covers and the spine of the book. The book itself was already had a lovely gold cover, so i decided not to cover the outside.
I used the same gold paste on the letters. I painted it on with a brush, to be a little neater.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever you might be doing..... x

MAWTT Challenge - "Leaves and/or Trees" set by Sue B

Good Morning all, MAWTT Challenge here again. This challenge
has been set by Sue B. The theme is "Leaves and/or trees". I think i covered both with this card. The background paper is of trees, and there are leaves on the front.
The topper is from Hunkydory "The little book of butterflies". I cut it into an oval shape and then added an oval frame in cream, which i mounted onto foam pads to lift it off from the card so that the butterfly topper is inside more. Using just one ivy leaf die - i have cut several out in copper, green and red and arranged around the oval frame.

Havent added a sentiment as yet, as i feel it could suit any occassion.

Pop over to the MAWTT blog to see the other DT entries....or maybe enter yourself. movingalongwiththetimes.blogspot.com Good Luck. x

Autumnal Card.....

Morning all (well just about!!), a little late in doing my blog today. I had finished this card last night, but thought i would take photo today, as the light would be better......well you know how it is, other things get in the way, so at 11am I'm only just been able to do it.

This quick stitching and bead pattern compliments the octagon shape. I have added layers in the centre and a butterfly, cut from a hunkydory topper. The background card is also from hunkydory.

Hope it's stopped raining where you are (just stopped here in Kent), enjoy your day, and thanks for stopping by. x

An afternoon of baking.....

Morning all, hope you are all well and happy today.

A slightly different blog today, as in not paper crafting, but baking.

I spent yesterday afternoon baking....I got a bit carried away, but I'm sure they'll soon disappear lol !!!

I've made:- toffee sponge slices, lemon cupcakes, Viennese fingers, and almond and sultan sponge loaf.

I must have telepathically sent my intentions to my husband yesterday as he arrived home with a bunch of flowers for me.

Have a great day. X

Marvelous Mauve.......

Morning all, hope you have all enjoyed an extra hour in bed this morning !!!!

Well, that's summer over with....now the nights will be getting darker earlier, bad weather will be settling in and the central heating will be working overtime..... i'll bet you're glad you've popped over to my blog today.....i've cheered you all up.....NOT !!! LOL !!!

At least this card has a hint of summer colours....

Anyone who knows me, or reads my blog regularly, know that purple and all shades of mauve's are my favourite.

I decided, for a change, to sew directly onto the patterned paper (as it was a good quality paper) rather than onto linen card.
The paper is from Sara Davies (crafters companion) "Signature Collection- butterfly lullaby". The pad has some beautiful papers in.
I've used 3 shades of mauve threads, and combined the paper with toning backing paper that has embossed dots on. A piece of lace across the bottom and then some mauve ric-rac ribbon.

Topped with a felt rose. Then some pale pink tiny pearls completes this card.
I added a pink pearl into the centre of the rose too.

Have a relaxing Sunday, thanks for stopping by, and see you again soon. x

Book Folding Project- Part Two.....

Morning all, well i have now completed this book folding project, and I must admit, I'm rather pleased with how it's turned out. Sometimes everything comes together perfectly.....this is the case here.

I have inked the name in brown ink, to show it up better. The papers inside the book and the covers are all from Hunkydory butterflies collection.  As you can see on the front i have added 3 butterflies - using my dies on brown card and then backed onto double sided sticky paper and glittered in gold.

The View from the top looking down. The "For You" is a Robert Addams die and the small butterflies next to it and also on the spine is the "waste" from a tonic butterfly punch. I actually seem to use the waste more than the actually punched out piece LOL !!
This is the front. I've added a topper from the Hunkydory little book of butterflies.
The spine with the little butterflies on - if you look closely you will see the glue, as i have taken the photo straight away before the glue had dried.....it's disappeared now !!

Now, just have to put it somewhere safe for Christmas LOL!!

Enjoy your day. x

Birthday Present and Box for Jenny....

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy.

Today is my friend Jenny's birthday and i have made her a pendant - similar to the one that i made for Sally on her birthday.

For Jenny's, i have chosen oranges & browns as the colour scheme, were as Sally's was shades of purple/mauve.

Made in exactly the same way, using delica beads for the main part and twin beads for the edging.
Happy Birthday Jenny xx

Have a good day. x

Book Folding Project - Part One.....

Morning all, I thought I would share this book folding project with you, but in stages.

This is it just folded. As you can see it's for "Kirsty". She is the lady whom I go to for facials.

Her beauty salon is called "Kirsty's beauty". So I will hopefully be able to decorate to match her salon colours, which are cream and brown.

I've been going to her for a few years now, and every Christmas, she gives me a gift bag of products to try and also a discount voucher, so I thought I would re-pay her kindness by making her this book.

Stop by soon to see it decorated.

Enjoy your day. x

Just thought I would check in with you all, as I haven't got anything completed as yet.

I've started doing a book folding project, and also have started knitting a chunky cardigan/jacket. Will show when completed.

Haven't had time to check other blogs lately, but will try later today.

Have a good day and will see you all again soon. X

Dad's Birthday Card.......

Morning all, hope you are all well, happy & warm now that the weather has turned chilly !!

I am pleased to say that Sally, liked her present yesterday. (scroll down to see the pendant that i made her).

I have just treated myself to a new die "Sue Wilson- Noble - Ornate Pierced Rectangle". I bought it, as it was a large set of dies(largest 5.5 x 7 inches)and also that it wasn't too fancy, so would be suitable for male and female alike.

The edges are pierced, and as i do a lot of sewing on card, i thought i would incorporate the two ideas together. I used some matching blue thread, and starting in the centre point on each edge, crossed down to the opposite side, so that behind the front piece, the threads cross over each other. I didn't go all the way around the card, but just did an equal amount on each side.

The central patterned piece i layered onto double side sticky sheet and once the die was stuck down, sprinkled glitter over, so that the background was completely glittered. Then i layered onto the next size die in cream cardstock. The central oval in cream was another S.W die "Festive Collection - Snowflake background". The word "dad" is a Tonic die. I threaded some co-ordinating ribbon through the word. And finally, the "happy birthday" is from Spellbinders.

A detailed look at the pierced edge and the stitching.

I'm thinking that I might do the stitching all away around the piece next time with varigated thread, to see how that looks.

Enjoy your weekend, thanks for stopping by, come again soon, oh, and keep warm XXXX

Birthday Present and Box for Sally.....

Good Morning all, hope you are all well & happy.

Today, is my friend Sally's birthday. I have made this flower pendant for her. The beads are "delica" beads and are perfect for this sort of project, as they sit side by side.
A simple design, but takes a while to complete, due to all the beading work, which is all sewn on by hand. Then i have added twin beads around the sides.
I have attached a ribbon in a matching shade, and made a box as well.

I hope she likes it. "Happy Birthday Sally" x

Enjoy your day. x

"It's The Final Cushion"..... (at last)!!!

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy today.

Well, at last, I have finished this cushion. I went out on Monday to buy a cushion pad, but the shop didn't have any. So i had to wait until Tuesday to buy one.

What a cutie !!!!!

And here are all four cushions together. I think the reindeer one is my favourite.....what's yours????

I think that now i have made enough Christmas cushions LOL !! It's time to move onto something else!!!

Pop by again soon to see something completely different. x

Easy on a Sunday Morning.......

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy this sunny Sunday morning. A bit late with the blog today, as i finished the above tree last night, but was too tired to load it onto the computer.

I had a lovely day at Ally Pally on Friday.....loads of material stalls with beautiful fabrics, especially Christmas prints etc....but i resisted the urge !!

I only bought the wool to make the Christmas tree above, some aran wool to make myself something, a bead kit and a patchwork template. So i was a good girl LOL !!

I have finished knitting the cushion from the other day. I started sewing it together, then realised that i don't have a cushion pad for it. So will buy one tomorrow and then hopefully complete ready to show on Tuesday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and thanks for stopping by. x

A Not So Sure Card......

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy on this (hopefully) sunny Friday. I have scheduled this post, as i am going to ally pally today for the "Knitting & Stitching" show.

I wasn't going to show this card to you, as i'm not sure that A) i like it & B) it's finished....but as i haven't finished my cushion off it's all I've got LOL!!!

If,  like me, you regularly buy craft magazines or have a subscription to one, sometimes the "free gifts" are not quite "your cup of tea". This has happened to me quite often (especially when it's free papers), i normally just put them in the cupboard to rot away or until i am so fed up of moving them to get to the papers that i really like that i throw them away.

So i decided that from now on i will use these freebies to experiment with my dies.

So this is the result of playing.....

I have the Crealies patchwork die for the octagon shape. In the die set you get the outside shape (octagon) then loads of layering, different shapes that will fill up the octagon shape like a patchwork. I decided to use just two of these shapes, and cut them out using the freebie papers. I cut 2 of each design, so that it will fit completely, then added 8 smaller shapes to fit inside this. Then i cut an octagon frame out and layered over the centre octagon.

I have added the wording and the reindeer and embossed a piece of cream cardstock with a reindeer embossing folder (crafters companion). I used my smoothie and blending ink to rub over the embossed card to highlight the reindeers.
Card complete......but i don't know what exactly i don't like about it, but i think it's lacking something.......any ideas???
Or maybe it's just because i didn't like the papers in the first place. LOL !!

Have a good day and weekend. x

A Girly Christmas Tree......

Morning all, Thursday today, and nearly another week over...... I'm not wishing my life away, but the year's nearly over LOL !!!!

For those of you who follow my blog regularly, you might be wondering where the completed Christmas cushion is??? Well, you know what it's like when you've nearly finished something, your mind is on the next project...... In this case my mind took over and I started and finished the next project first !!!!!

Another take on the Christmas tree / angel book folding idea. But this time just folded enough pages to make the tree and then decorated the rest of the book as if i had done a name etc.

 The view from the back.....
 .....and above.

I wanted this to be a girly tree, so have decorated with things that girls like......shoes, shoes, shoes, handbags, champagne......but not necessarily in that order LOL!!!!!

I have used Hunkydory papers & topper (all matching) as well as a Christmas poem.

The shoes and champagne glass and bottle are all Robert Addams dies. The netting frill around the bottom was achieved my laying a length of red tape down on my craft mat. Then pleating the net as i went along, i stuck it to the red tape. Then i added another strip of red tape and added the red ric-rac ribbon. Finally, i sprinkled gold glitter on top, which stuck to the red tap but not the ribbon.

I am going to the "Knitting & Stitching" show at ally pally tomorrow, so i might not be able to do a blog. Will catch up with you at the weekend.xx

"Blue Christmas"........

Morning all, hope you are all well & happy.  This card was made using some free backing papers that i got in a magazine recently. As the papers were only 6 x 6 i have used two, and backed them onto blue cardstock and then off set them on the 8 x 8 card blank. I have used the "smoothie" that still had blue colour cloud blending ink on to blend the corners of the card blank, as the white card was too stark. I was impressed that the ink hadn't dried out on the smoothie, and there was plenty on it to do the card blank and also over the LOTV topper. I cut a frame out of the blue card stock to put over the LOTV topper.

I had a bag of coloured mini pegs, so i have used the blue one to attach to the sentiment, also a free gift.
3 small gems on the opposite corners completes this card.

P.S nearly finished the cushion, so hopefully will show tomorrow. x

Sweet Butterflies......

Morning all, Hope you are all well & happy.

Today's card is a simple one. I used the colour cloud blending ink to make a marble-ly effect background paper. Then i cut out two pieces of pink mirri card using the Spellbinders die "Graceful Lattice". The first piece I extended once so that it was square. The second piece I cut the exact size as the die, which i have used to frame the butterfly topper. (Hunkydory little book of butterflies). I slotted the topper inside of the outer edge of the die cut piece to hold in place. (just noticed i have missed one piece at the top side of the topper - doh!!).
This i then have stuck on at a "jaunty angle - as they say on TV!!".

Then using another identical butterfly topper i have cut three of the butterflies out. The largest i decoupage over the main topper piece. The other two i have stuck onto the lattice and below. Using the Dovecraft 3d pearl glue i have put dots onto the lattice piece & the butterfly in purple, and pink onto the butterfly.

I hope you can see the colours ok - i find it difficult to photo pale colours....they never seem to be bright enough.

I'm in the process of knitting the last of the Christmas cushions (a set of 4). Hopefully will be able to show you this week. Have a good day. x

Into the wonderful world of "John-next-door" !!! .......

Good Morning one and all, hope you are all feeling groovy today !!!!!

I had a lovely time yesterday, at the "Cake & Bake" show at Excel, London. Tried lots of samples and bought just a couple of things !!!.......no really, honestly, truthfully only a couple of things. There were lots of free draws that i entered....(just waiting for all the goodies to be awarded to me - fat chance!!).
The competition cakes were out of this world. The theme was children's books. So there were "Alice in wonderland", "Jungle book", "Paddington", "Peter Rabbit" just to name a few. If you ever get the chance to go, then it's well worth a visit - if only to see the amazing cakes.

On to today's card....... On Thursday, I was lucky enough to see John Lockwood (of john-next-door fame) at a craft shop in Swanley, Kent. I've followed John's blog for years (before he became famous) and have always been inspired by his creations. Thursday was no exception. He demoed lots of great ideas.  This card has been made following his demo and tips. John, if you get a chance to look at my blog i hope you can see the framing and the full stop!!!!!

I have used white card throughout the card (apart from the topper which has come from a Hunkydory pad "the little book of cute christmas").
I used the smoothies and applied blobs in colour cloud bending ink "pretty in pink" & "chic violet". John showed me how to apply the blobs using each end of the smoothie and by twisting the smoothie as i applied to give a more defined blob. He also showed how to frame each layer by running the smoothie along the edge to blend the white card to match.

The snowflakes are s spellbinders die which i inked through whilst still on the card with both colours. My full stop is the pink dazzler.

Thanks John.....You've got me hooked !!!! x
