Christmas Tree Cushion.

Good Morning all. Well, I haven't blogged for a while, as I haven't done much LOL !!. Lots of things in progress but nothing finished !!.

I went to the stitching and craft show at Excel, London on Friday. Had an enjoyable time and bought a few things (as my sons had given me money for Mother's Day).

Here is the third cushion out of a set of 4 that I have now completed.
Plain Red with the green Christmas tree is the base of the cushion. The star and trunk of the tree are the added knitted pieces.  The tinsel was made by using some sparkly wool that I had left over from knitting the hedgehogs and owls, and doubling the yarn and crocheting a single chain.
A Close up of the star.

When I photographed this cushion the sun kept going in and coming out - so some images are more brighter than others.

If I don't manage to do another blog this week I will wish you all a happy Easter now.....enjoy all that chocolate !!!!!

A Small Beaded Bell

Morning to you all, thanks for stopping by today. I hope you liked my beaded flower from yesterday.

Following on in the same theme, here is a small beaded bell that I have made (kit from "thread a bead").

Unlike yesterday, this was made using wire and seed beads. I am still a novice when it comes to making things using wire, as I seem to get kinks in the wire, which make it really difficult to thread through beads.

This bell was made in 2 halves. The first half was done my threading rows of beads in a line and then twisting the wire at the end of each row to enable you to go up and do the row above. Once complete you created the second half by threading your wire through the sides and then doing a row to match the first half, again twisting the wires at the sides.  As I completed the second half, my wire was in a right old mess and would lay right. So the photo above is the front view......
....and this photo is the back half. As you can see it doesn't lay as neatly.

A few from underneath to show the little gold bell.

This is only about 2 inches high, so you need patience and small fingers (preferably) to make this LOL !!!!!

Have a good day and see you again soon. x

Reversible Beaded Flower Ornament

Good Morning All. Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, I've been busy making this flower, and also I went to a beading show at Sandown on
Saturday.

I bought this kit on line from "Thread a bead". It was made using small "Miyuki delica beads", which are slightly smaller than seed beads and they lay beautifully flat as you can see from the photos.

Very clear instructions and photos to follow.

I also bought from patterns from them to make other things.....which I will show once completed, I had to buy more beads from the show....of course !!!

Hope you are all well and happy and crafting !!!

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you again soon. x

Crochet Top

Good Afternoon all, little bit late doing a post this morning.....don't know where the time flies to some days !!!

This is the first crochet garment that I have made. I am really only a beginner at crochet, being self taught, so after having made toys and cushions I thought I would try and be a little more adventurous and make something for myself.

I chose a simple pattern and shaped top with not much shaping involved. The pattern is just dc and tr.

This pattern was in "The People's Friend" magazine from some time ago.
The original pattern had more rows of the open mesh, (stopping just under the bust)  but I decided to only have a small part like that. I will probably wear a vest top underneath anyway - unless really hot.

It does sit flat across the neck part, but due to the way I had to hold the camera to take a photo of myself, it looks a little bunched up.

A closer look at the bottom part.

For my first attempt, I am pleased with the result. I do have a pattern for a cardigan/jacket that looks good, so I might have a go at something more complicated next......watch this space !!

Have a good rest of the day....very overcast and dull here in Kent today, hope it's sunnier where you are. x

Art Deco reversed die card.

Good Morning all, no sad news to report today - hooray !!!!

Todays card is Art Deco - for those of you who follow my blog regularly, you will know that I love Art Deco, so when a set of 9 dies by Tonic was on c&c I couldn't resist !!!

I have used just one of the corner dies from the set - however, my problem was , that the die pattern wasn't symmetrical. I therefore had to cut 2 dies the normal way (face down onto the front of my chosen cardstock) then cut 2 in reverse (face down onto the back of my chosen cardstock). This gave me 4 corners that matched. Now normally when you cut a die out onto the back of your cardstock you can tell the difference from the normal way - you get a raised edge where it has been cut out - so I put it through the GC but used the tan mat and pink board with the base plate (without the die) just the cut out piece of card and it made it edges go down so that it looked like the normal piece of cardstock cut-out .......Hope that makes sense LOL !!!!
The image is from Hunkydory. I have matted and layered onto pale green mirri card and black card. I have added 2 black oval black beads in the top corners.

Luckily I found that I had a happy birthday stamp from Anna-Marie Designs that was very Art Deco, so I stamped onto the pale green mirri card and added a sparkly gem and a black flower.

No too large a card this is only 7 x 7.

Have a wonderful day and see you again soon. x

What's New Pussycat ?????

Good Morning to you all. Firstly may I thank everybody for their kind condolences for my Ex-MIL who died on Saturday.

I also read some sad news via facebook on Monday, that a friend that I had worked with some time ago had also died. Not a nice way of receiving such news, but I had known that she was suffering from cancer for a long while. The dreadful thing is that she was only a year older than me, being 53, too young to die, but alas, we have no control of such things.

Onto a happier subject - crafting and my offering for today.

A stitched and beaded card in orange and blue. A sweet image from LOTV of a little girl with a ginger pussycat (hence the heading LOL !!)
2 strips of ribbon on each side in blue and orange.

 A close-up of the bead-work.

I hope I have no more sad news.....this is when I don't want it to happen in 3's.

Have a good day everyone, thanks for stopping by & see you again soon. x

A Small Gift Box for Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all mums and grandmothers today.

Today is a day of mixed emotions. The joy of being a mum and seeing my 2 boys is wonderful and I feel truly blessed. The sadness is that my ex-mother-in-law died yesterday after a short spell in hospital. She died peacefully and was unaware of her surroundings.

When the death of someone close happens it does make you cherish the people who are close to you and still with you.

On that note, here is a small gift box that I have made for my own mum.
It has a gift tag inserted into the lid, which when pulled out reveals the inside of the box through the acetate.
It was featured in Docrafts magazine recently and was easy to make. I have bought her a small personal gift to go inside along with some chocolates.
Love to all mums out there today. x

Another Pastel coloured card......hope you can see it !!

Good Morning one and all, hope you are all well and happy. If not wrap up warm and get someone close to give you a big hug.....that will make you feel better  x

Todays card is another pastel coloured card. I blogged a little while ago that I have trouble photographing pastel coloured cards as the camera doesn't seem to be able to pick up the colour so well.

These photos are the best of the bunch (doesn't say much for the others LOL !!)

It's another stitched and beaded card, my favourite type of card at the  moment.....I seem to have phases of styles and crafts .... do you?

This is a close up of the creamy/peachy rose that I have added and also shows a lovely hat pin that the "Spanish Crafter" makes and sells. Check out her blog by clicking on her name at the side of this page.

This is made for a lovely lady in my craft group who is celebrating her 80th birthday.

Photo taken from another angle.....does it look any better?

Have a good day.xx

It's Spring again......

Good Morning all, it's Friday 13th again....beware LOL !!

After the last 2 days blogs of "C" cards it's back to a spring card.

Once again it's beaded and this time it's a LOT OF BEADS !!!

It covers almost the entire card.

I have used Sue Wilson "new York collection - Madison square" for the centre piece - such a lovely die. I have added a topper, which matches the background paper - (from Making Cards Magazine). I have layered onto a dark purple piece of cardstock.

I don't know if you can see in the photo, but I've added a small dot of "Dovecraft glitter glue in lavender" in each of the flower centres - just to make it stand out a wee bit more.

Another week over and the weekend tomorrow, and of course, Mother's day on Sunday. Have a great weekend. x

Another "C" Card...... Sorry !!!!

Good Morning all. Another Christmas card....but that's all for now folks.....normal service will be resumed tomorrow LOL !!

A stitched and beaded card, using red & green bugle and seed beads.

The topper is again from LOTV but I have added liquid pearls in ruby red on top of the berries on the topper. The corner holly and berries are table confetti.
A close-up of the bead work.

Have a great day and see you again tomorrow x

Another Christmas Card done !!!!!

Good morning all, excuse the smugness of the heading today, but I am rather pleased that I've been able to make a start on Christmas cards today. I hadn't intended to make a start now, but when I decided to do this pattern I came across a LOTV topper that fitted perfectly and I also had the beads in the appropriate colours so that was decision made.

The bugle beads are in a steel blue and then seed beads are red and green.

This colour-way mixes the traditional colours with the modern ones and I think works quite well.

If you hate even thinking about Christmas until the start of December then I apologise for even mentioning the "C" word at this time of year, but tune in again soon as I am in the process of completing another "C" card. LOL !!!

Enjoy Spring and I will see you again soon x

In A Whirl !!

Good Morning all. I hope you are all well and happy.

Today's card is, I hope you agree, a pretty image. It takes up the whole of the card, which I like to do occasionally. Not much in the way of adornments or layering. The thread that I have used is a multi coloured of blues and greens. I have layered onto pale teal mirri card and French navy blue card onto a white card blank 7 x 7 inches.

No sentiments either -

Sometimes CAS is the best.

Have a good day. x

A Stitch in time saves ......

Good morning all, well what a lovely sunny weekend we had here in Kent...hope you did too !!

Today is not so good, overcast and looks like it's going to rain....oh well never mind, good excuse to craft instead !!!

Today's card is another stitched and beaded card with a slight difference....I've combined it with ribbon now LOL !!

A simple stitched and beaded design done over a strip of ribbon. The papers and toppers I've had in my stash for quite a while. I'm determined to start using up all these bits before i buy anymore LOL !!

Have a good day, thanks for stopping by, and see you again soon. x

Barbara Gray Inspired Card.....

Good afternoon one and all, isn't it a glorious day?? The sun is shining brightly, here in Kent.

The card that i am showing today is of umbrellas and rain..... (typical of me to be behind the times!! LOL !!).

I bought some masks and rubber stamps from Barbara Gray... this is my first attempt at using them. I used the mask of the lady and inked around it to make the image white. Then i used the stamps and stamped the necklace and umbrella onto the lady with the scottie dog by her side. I used embossed dotty card and run the ink pad over it to high-light the dots. The leaves are made by using Sue Wilson Dies. The flowers are in the dotty card and simply rolled into a flower. I could have gone mad and tried to use the brayer to ink ... a la' Barbara ... but i kept it simple for my first go.

Enjoy the weather today and hopefully tomorrow as well. x

Second Crochet Cushion.

Good afternoon all. I hope you are all enjoying this glorious sunshine that we have today. It looks like tomorrow will be even lovelier !!!!

Here is the second crochet cushion that i have made. I have used the same 3 colours that i used for the hexagon crochet cushion but choose a different pattern. It is approx 20 x 20 inches.

A simple pattern to do.

Enjoy the rest of your day, whatever you are doing. x

Build a Scene Card

Good Afternoon all, a late post today, as i took my son back to Abingdon yesterday and have only just caught up with getting my craft room back to normal. A quick card that was easy as 1-2-3. The build a scene dies are by "X-Cut", all the work is done for you, it's just a case of cutting out each layer and using foam pads to mount. I have added silver peel-offs for the decoration and some silver flat backed bead on a string.
Have photographed it on a white background and then on a black background to see what looks best.

Hopefully, now craft room restored, i will be able to some more blogs soon.
Take care until then. x

Art Deco Birthday card

Morning all, this is the last of the 5 cards that I had made at the end of January and that I had scheduled.

This card is for my son's girlfriend's birthday. A simple stitched and beaded card. The art deco image is from Hunkydory. I have layered the centre part in lilac and the stitched part with lilac and black. I think adding a thin layer of black makes the card "pop". The wording is from Robert Addams. The beads are seed beads and rice beads in pale lilac.

This year is certainly going quickly (especially when you schedule posts so far in advance !!)

Have a good day, and thanks for stopping by. x
